“Cap” is short for market capitalisation. The Market Capitalisation of a company is the number of equity shares multiplied by the price of each share. In other words, this is the total value of the company’s shares in the share market. Companies and their shares can be broadly classified into three types based on “Cap”. Large Cap companies have a value above Rs 20,000cr.
