Every mutual fund is managed by a fund manager. Alpha measures whether the fund manager is beating the market’s performance. The market can be measured by a benchmark index (eg NIFTY 50 or SENSEX). A positive Alpha indicates out-performance by the fund manager; negative Alpha indicates underperformance.
